Social Justice Ministry Online Lunch and Learn

Thursday, February 23

Noon

All are invited to attend this online Lunch and Learn! Many have heard of United Way but may not be familiar with the specific programs and volunteer efforts supported by The United Way of the Low Country (UWLC). This month we will host Mr. Dale Douthat, President and CEO of the UWLC whose mission is to mobilize resources to solve human problems. This non-profit organization’s vision is to be the leading force for social change to improve basic needs, education, health and economic mobility outcomes for the citizens of Beaufort and Jasper counties.

Mr. Douthat will be giving an overview of local United Way programs which include Early Reading programs that partner with local schools, Backpacks for the Homeless, Operation Holiday Heroes, and VITA (volunteer income tax assistance), to name a few. He will also discuss a more recent initiative to address a community issue that may be unfamiliar to many of us, so tune in to learn more! Last year, more than 206,000 local people benefited through United Way efforts!
