Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, if you love me, feed my lambs, tend my sheep.” (taken from John 21: 15-17) Feed My Sheep is All Saints’ outreach project for our local food pantries Bluffton Self Help and The Deep Well Project. For November they are asking for “Thanksgiving Dinner Items—canned, boxed, or packaged.” Grocery stores run specials every week…pick up one or two items each time you go and bring them to church on Sunday. Contributions can be placed in the wicker basket located in the narthex. It’s that easy!

Wednesday Night at All Saints—November 4 This month’s program is a
three-part series on Christian Spirituality and the Japanese Garden, exploring
the concept of Christian Spirituality as reflected in gardens, with particular
emphasis upon the Japanese garden, and will be presented by Dr. C. Rayburn
Barton, All Saints parishioner and Professor of Political Science at USCB.
November 4’s program will be the usual evening program beginning with Liturgy at
5:15 pm, Dinner in the parish hall at 5:45 followed by the Program at 6:30 pm
which will consist of a lecture that explores the concept of Christian
Spirituality; gardens in the Bible; the Spirit Garden; and Christian
Spirituality as manifest in the Japanese garden. Part 2 will be on Wednesday
November 11 at 5:30 pm in the parish—Dr. Barton will present “Dream Window:
Reflections on the Japanese Garden,” a Smithsonian documentary focusing upon
some of the major gardens of Japan. A discussion session will follow the
presentation with dinner on your own. The concluding program will be on Saturday
the 21st and will be a tour of two Japanese gardens and the Barton Residence.
The first, “Garden of the Golden Wind,” was designed by Martin Mosko, Principal,
Marpa Design Studio, and Abbot, Hakubai Buddist Temple, Boulder, Colorado. The
second, “Garden of the Cross II,” was designed and constructed by Dr. Barton
(with assistance from his son James) following his study of gardens in Japan
last summer, particularly the gardens of Merei Shigemori, while service as a
Visiting Research Professor at the Higher Education Research Institute,
Hiroshima University. The gardens are located in the Beaufort area. We will
carpool from All Saints at 10 am, have lunch at the Sake House Japanese
restaurant in Beaufort ($10-12), and return around 3:30-4 pm. Mark these dates

Every Member Canvass 2010 Two weeks ago information packets were mailed
to each parish household. We ask that everyone either mail in the enclosed
pledge card to be received by the office no later than Friday November 6, or
bring it with you to church on Sunday November 8. This day has been designated
Every Member Canvass Sunday, when our pledge cards will be presented at the
Offertory. It is hoped that everyone will take the time to join with the clergy
and vestry in considering your pledge thoughtfully and in prayer and respond in
thanksgiving for the blessings that have been bestowed upon you and upon All
Saints. What we pledge, along with the open plate income provide upwards of 80%
of our annual budget. As with last year, we plan to again send out callers the
week following EMC Sunday to visit parishioners from whom a response has not
been received. 2009 saw an increase in pledges over 2008. Let’s increase that
number again for 2010. If you do not receive a pledge card, or would like to
help out in this year’s canvass please call the parish office at 681-8333.
