Most gracious Father, your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, carpenter of Nazareth, became the cornerstone of our faith and taught us to build on his foundation; help us build on this earthly foundation a house that will become a home for Teo, Dora, and their children.  Make us effective examples of your presence in this world.	Padre misericordioso, tu Hijo nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, Carpintero de Nazaret, llegó a ser la piedra angular de nuestra fe y nos enseñó a construir sobre su fundación:  Ayúdanos a construir en esta fundación terrenal una casa que llegará a ser un hogar para Teo, Dora, y sus hijos.  Haz de nosotros ejemplos eficaces de su presencia en este mundo.
Bless and protect all who will work on this house, and bless those who have given materials and money, those who feed and refresh us, and those who pray for our success and safety; for they enable us to put our love for our neighbors into action.	Bendiga y protege a todos los que van a trabajar en esta casa y bendiga los que han dado materiales y dinero, los que nos dan de comer y nos refrescan, y los que rezan por nuestra seguridad y éxito; porque ellos nos posibilitan poner en acción nuestro amor al prójimo.

Most gracious Father, sustain us with your presence and help us as we work today.  Last week we saw only the foundation of this house and then built its shell.  Now, we join each other in erecting its roof trusses.  We can see that our work so far is prominent and obviously strategic, essential for the strength and integrity of the building as a whole.	Padre misericordioso, sostennos con tu presencia y ayúdanos mientras trabajamos hoy.  La semana pasada, vimos solamente la fundación de esta casa y luego construimos su estructura.  Ahora, nos reunimos para construir sus cuchillos de armadura.  Podemos ver que nuestro trabajo hasta hoy es prominente y obviamente estratégico, esencial para la fuerza y la integridad del edificio entero.
May we realize that your Church is something you are building and that we are the very elements of its construction.  We are part foundation, part its framing, part its trusses, part its plywood.  We are essential to the strength and integrity of your Church.  As we look at this incomplete house, help us ponder this: you may not yet be finished with us either. We have been fortunate enough to see and be with one who has been essential to your Church; to its strength and integrity.  His life has been yet another model for us to consider as we follow your Son’s path.  His death diminishes all of us, but challenges each of us to carry on your work in this world.	Hemos tenido la suerte de ver y estar con uno que ha sido esencial a tu Iglesia; a su fuerza e integridad.  Su vida ha sido un modelo para considerar mientras seguimos el sendero de su hijo, Jesucristo.  La muerte de Dick Oviatt nos disminuye a todos, pero nos disafía a mantener su memoria en este mundo.
So with heavy hearts we commend our companion in faith and brother in Christ to the mercy of God, our Maker and Redeemer.  Dick Oviatt, go forth from this world in the love of the Father, who created you; in the mercy of Jesus Christ, who died for you; in the power of the Holy Spirit, who strengthens you.  At one with all the faithful, living and departed, may you rest in peace and rise in glory, where grief and misery are banished and light and joy abide evermore.  Amen. Most merciful Father, your son our Savior Christ Jesus was rejected by the world but became the cornerstone of our faith.  And you invite us by your Holy Spirit to become living stones, stones that will continue to build upon his holy example.  Just as you are our foundation, help us build on this earthly foundation a house that will become a home.  Be with us so we may serve others in your name. We give you thanks, O God, for the work of many hands.  Together with Teo and Dora, may we complete our tasks so fully, so effectively, so swiftly, that they can joyfully reunite their family, begin their new life together, and take advantage of every new opportunity that opens unto them. Almighty God, we thank you for making us in your own image, to share in the ordering of your world.  So knit our hearts, so open our minds, that we might receive into our very being the lessons you have taught us, to love you and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We thank you for softening the hearts of people that they are so moved by your Spirit that they contribute material, their money, and their talents to Habitat for Humanity.  Help us remember they are our full partners in this effort and stand beside us in spirit as we work today. "Lord, we praise you and we thank you." Almighty and ever loving God, you have blessed us with memory, reason, and skill; you call on us to seek and serve Christ in all persons; and you teach us by the example of Christ himself to love our neighbors as ourselves.  As we gather here to help this family build a warm, comfortable home for themselves, help us do the work you have given us to do in truth and beauty and for the common good. As we help build up the walls of protection and peace in this house, let us also break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and support us as we strive for justice and peace among all people. Father, your Son was invited into the homes of friends and was thankful; bless all who will live in this new home and all who will be invited to share in its warmth and welcoming comfort.  And, remembering the account that we all must one day give, guide us at the end into your own heavenly home, that we might feel your ultimate hospitality in all its grace and in our humility. Those who have worked so hard and donated so much to make Brendan Woods a reality. The Habitat for Humanity officials and volunteers who guide us and teach us. Those who donated the materials and money that enable us to move forward. Those who work behind the scenes to organize the Habitat ministry at All Saints, and who keep it vital. Those who offer rest and refreshments. Those who cheer us on with their words of encouragement. And, those who hold us and our work in their hearts and prayers, even if known only to God.	Los que han trabajado tanto y han dado tanto para hacer de Brendan Woods una realidad. Los oficiales de Habitat for Humanity, y los voluntarios que nos guían y nos enseñan. Heavenly Father, until now we have been working primarily on the strategic elements of this house; as we move to those parts that are somewhat less prominent, keep us ever mindful that every part will be vital for its strength and integrity or for the comfort and warmth of the Garcia’s, who will call it their home.	Padre Celestial, hasta ahora hemos estado trabajando más que nada en los elementos básicos de esta casa.  Mientras trabajemos en las partes menos prominentes, mantennos conscientes de que cada parte va a ser vital para la fuerza e integridad de la casa, y la comodidad de los García, que van a vivir aquí.
Make us ready, Lord, for whatever we are to do this morning.  If we are to lead others, help us to lead patiently.  If we are to assist others, help us to assist cheerfully.  If we are to make mistakes, help us to correct them completely.  And if we simply are to wait around before we can do anything, help us to wait gracefully.  In whatever we do, help us to remember we are working wrapped in your love, working as one, and working out of our love for one another and our neighbors. Heavenly Father, in your great mercy you have given us Christ Jesus your Son, the carpenter of Nazareth, to be our living cornerstone and to prepare mansions for us to live in throughout eternity with you. In return, he asks us to build onto his foundation love, joy, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.	Padre Celestial, en tu gran Misericordia, nos has dado Jesucristo, tu Hijo, el carpintero de Nazaret, para ser nuestro piedra angular, y para preparar mansiones para nosotros en que viviremos por la eternidad contigo.  A cambio, Él nos pide que construyamos sobre su base amor, alegría, paciencia, bondad, generosidad, fidelidad, dulzura, y autocontrol.
Out of that love, and in obedience to you, we have built onto this earthly foundation a shell, then plywood, then trusses, then siding, porches, and roofing.  Today we will finish and top off the parts that are essential for the strength and integrity of this building as a whole.  We give you thanks for the work of many hands in achieving this milestone, and pause to celebrate what we have done so far. As we continue our work, keep us ever mindful that we will be transforming this building into a house; one that will be safe and comfortable.  Grant, we pray, that with your help the Garcia’s will further transform this house into a home; full of love, warmth, and comfort.  May they reunite their family, find peace in soul and body, open a new chapter of their life in your love, and reflect the radiance of your love to others. Receive the work of our hands in this place, to be a place of shelter and strength.  In your mercy, keep us free from accidents; guide us from all mistakes; and help us realize that, in asking for help from someone else or in giving it to others, we learn how you help us and want us to put love for our neighbors into action.	Recibe el trabajo de nuestras manos en este lugar; que sea un lugar de refugio y fortaleza.  En tu misericordia, guárdanos libres de accidentes; no nos permites a cometer errores; y ayúdanos a darnos cuenta que, al pedir ayuda de otro, y al dar ayuda a otro, aprendemos cómo Tú nos ayuda y quieres que pongamos nuestro amor al prójima en acción.
We ask you also to bless Teo, Dora, and their family who will own this house, who work beside us and help us, and who will turn it into a home.  By it, may they start a new life in your love.  Through it, may they continue to spread your love by helping new neighbors, new friends, and strangers.  In it, may they find peace in soul, mind, and body. As we take our place in the long line of people who have worked for Habitat in the past, give us the grace, O God, to continue in their good example.  And, with those who are working on Habitat houses this morning in other places around this country and the world, we thank you for knitting us together as one. Your Son Jesus Christ shared his toil and hallowed the labors of others in his earthly life: Be present with all of us gathered here this morning and with all other Habitat workers, now and in the future; protect us and them from accidents and, through our toil and labors, give us all a foretaste of your heavenly kingdom. O Lord, help us recognize as we work today that we are most open to your gifts of faith, hope, and charity when we give something of ourselves to others.  Grant that as we grow in love, we might also become more effective instruments of your peace.  Give us the courage to persevere, no matter what unknown things we may face, and soften our hearts toward those who may differ from us.	Señor, ayúdanos a reconocer, mientras trabajemos hoy, que estamos más abiertos a tus regalos de fe, esperanza, y caridad cuando damos algo de nosotros mismos a otros.  Mientras crezcamos en el amor, concédenos que lleguemos a ser instrumentos más efectivos de tu paz.  Danos el valor para perseverar, por mucho que tengamos que enfrentar cosas desconocidas, y ablándanos los corazones hacia los que son diferentes de nosotros.
During this season of Advent, we sing hymns of renewal, anticipation, change, and arrival.  We sing of events that make the world anew.  We give you thanks that, through our work, we are able to reunite Teo, Dora, and their family and make the world seem new to them. We ask also that you bless them.  As they begin a new life in a new home in a new neighborhood, may they carry to this place all in their lives that is good and holy and giving, and spread your love to everyone they meet; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, from before time and forever.  Amen. Heavenly Father, as we continue during this Christmastide to celebrate the coming of the infant Jesus, keep us ever mindful of the beauty of your creation: For the beauty of earth and sky and sea; for the richness of mountains, plains, and rivers; for the songs of birds and the loveliness of flowers.	Padre Celestial, mientras continuemos durante estas Navidades celebrando la llegada del Niño Jesús, manténnos siempre conscientes de la belleza de tu creación: de la belleza de la tierra y el cielo y el mar; de las riquezas de las montañas, las llanuras, y los ríos; por las canciones de los pájaros y la belleza de las flores.
May we joyfully give to Teo, Dora, and their little family our labor and our love, so that a barren place may be made new and green.  May our work this morning become a safe playground where parents and children might learn even more about living in harmony and peace with your creation and with others, about the loveliness of flowers, and about your everlasting grace. Almighty God, help us look back at the construction of this house and discern its meaning.  We remember it as only a foundation surrounded by barren ground, then a shell, then the roof, then wiring and insulation, then painted walls, then the bareness covered by grass and other living things, even to what we will be doing today.  We note that some elements are prominent and obviously strategic, while others are small and seemingly insignificant.  But we know that each piece is necessary for the strength and integrity of the building as a whole, and vital for the comfort and warmth of the Garcia’s who will call it home.	Dios Todopoderosos, ayúdanos a mirar atrás la construcción de esta casa y discernir su sentido.  La recordamos como sólo unos cimientos rodeados de terreno estéril; luego un esqueleto; luego el techo; luego el cableado y el aislamiento; luego paredes pintadas; luego la desnudez cubierta de hierba y otras cosas vivas, hasta lo que vamos a hacer hoy.  Notamos que algunos elementos son prominentes y obviamente estratégicos, mientras otros son pequeños e insignificantes al parecer.  Pero sabemos que cada parte es necesaria para la fuerza e integridad del edificio completo, e indispensable para la comodidad de la familia García, que va a llamarla “nuestro hogar.”
Help us, Lord God, remember that your Church is something you are continuing to build and that we are the very elements of its construction.  Just as each of us brings something very distinctive and crucial to this construction site, instill in us that the work of your Church also must continue by many hands, some prominent and strategic, others small and seemingly insignificant.  May we each be counted as distinctive and crucial hands on the stage of your greater construction.	Ayúdanos, Señor Dios, a recordar que tu Iglesia es algo que tu sigues construyendo, y que nosotros somos los elementos de su construcción.  Como cada uno de nosotros lleva algo muy diferente e importante a este sitio de construcción, enséñanos que el trabajo de tu Iglesia también tiene que continuar por medio de muchas manos – algunas prominentes y estratégicas, otras pequeñas y aparentemente insignificantes.  Que cada uno de nosotros sea una mano distintiva y crucial en el escenario de tu construcción mayor.
Give us thankful hearts for all that we have and all that we are, for they are your gifts to us.  Sustain Teo, Dora, and their family, we pray, as they prepare for their new lives.
