Sunday Adult Christian Education Program at 9 a.m. will meet in the parish hall for the next several weeks to accommodate a new video series “Jesus and the Gospels”, narrated by Professor Luke Timothy Johnson of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Associate Priest Mark Brinkmann will facilitate. Professor Johnson aims to show us the human Jesus underlying the many portraits we have. He approaches the Gospels and our perceptions of Jesus from a different perspective than the popular quest for the historical Jesus. All are welcome! Sunday School for Children 9:00 a.m. in the upstairs children’s room. All children ages two through 5th grade to are invited to explore the ‘Joy and Wonder of Easter!’ in The Kingdom of God. Parents are encouraged to enroll their children in this wonderful and exciting Sunday program. All Saints’ “21st Annual ‘Potpourri of Gardens’ Tour” is THIS SATURDAY, May 17, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The tour is All Saints’ major fundraiser for community outreach. Spaces are still available on the sign-up posters asking for parishioners to be ‘garden hostesses and parking directors, workers for the boutique, bakery, and luncheon’. Posters are located in the parish hall. If you have not picked up your Family Ticket Packets, please do so on Sunday morning, May 11, in the parish hall. Please be generous with your time, talent and treasure. This year’s tour beneficiaries are All Saints Preschool Scholarship Fund, Bluffton Self Help, Inc., Children’s Relief Fund, Citizens Opposed to Domestic Abuse (CODA), Foundation for Hospice Care, and Programs for Exceptional People. FYI - The sneak peek of the boutique scheduled for Thursday evening HAS BEEN CANCELLED due to time and set-up constraints. An Invitation to All Newcomers and Visitors Come and learn more about All Saints in a new Sunday morning series: “Welcome: A Guide to Life at All Saints”. For three Sundays in May: May 11, 18 and 25 at 9 a.m. in the library, you will have an opportunity to discover more about the Episcopal faith and liturgy, discuss current church topics in an open discussion with the rector, and find out what goes on at All Saints…including a guided tour of the church. Please join us! Saintly Singles will hold their annual meeting Monday evening May 12 at 6 pm at the home of Sarah Eliasoph, 129 Headlands Drive, HHP. Plans will be discussed and made for the summer and into the fall. Saintly Singles welcomes all who are single—either by choice, divorce or death. They also welcome friends who churches do not have a singles group. Please let Sarah know you are coming, what you will be bringing, if you need a pass or more information. All Saints ECW will hold its May meeting on Tuesday the 13th beginning with dinner at 6 p.m. which will be a “Lowcountry Pot-Luck”! and the sign up sheets are located on the parish hall bulletin board. Our guest speaker will be parishioner and choir member Tom Vasil, and he will talk about the ‘care and nurturing’ of a professional voice. The ECW Nominating Committee will present its suggested slate of 2008-09 officers. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor. All women of All Saints are considered members and are invited & urged to attend these monthly meetings. If transportation is an issue please call Marilyn Adams in the parish office. New Day by Day Prayer Booklets for May/June/July are now located on the Tract Rack in the church narthex. Due to the rising price of fuel, etc. the cost has now risen to $1. The tract rack also carries a variety of informative pamphlets. All items are priced at cost but any donation will be accepted. Prayer Shawl Ministry This unique and love-filled form of outreach began at All Saints in 2008. Easy to knit shawls are created for giving to others as a way of connecting us to them and them to us. The shawls may go to people we do or do not know and are a means of expressing our love and prayers for the seasons of life. Knitters and non-knitters alike are invited to participate on the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 am. Men and Women are needed to usher for one Sunday a month at either the 8 a.m. or 10:15 a.m. services. This is a great way to serve your church. Chamber Music Hilton Head will conclude its 10th season at All Saints with a concert on Monday May 12 at 7:30 p.m. Works by Beethoven, Martinu and Smetana will be performed. For more information call Bob or Jean Shamo at 681-9969. Feed My Sheep, is an All Saints Church’s outreach project for our local food pantries Bluffton Self Help and The Deep Well. May's suggested donations are "Rice and Boxed Potatoes." Donations can be left in the wicker basket at the back of the church. Hilton Head Fire & Rescue offers American Heart Association CPR, AED (automated external defibrillator) and First Aid Classes. The only cost is $4 for a 2 year certification card and $10 if you would like to purchase a book. Call 682-5141 for more information or to register for a class. CODA—Citizens Opposed to Domestic Abuse For May we are being asked to provide ‘Items for the Medicine Chest’ such as band-aids, OTC medications—aspirin, cold/cough/flu remedies, antibiotic cream, etc; just the same items you have and use at home! CODA’s collection spot is located in the parish hall next to the hanging quilt. Please be generous. Volunteers in Medicine Clinic is in critical need of volunteers, especially in the Pharmacy division. Complete details are located on the bulletin board in the parish hall foyer. Clergy Visits If you, or someone you know is getting ready for a hospital stay, is in the hospital or recovery center or has become homebound for whatever reason, and a visit by a member of the clergy would be beneficial, please remember to call the parish office 681-8333. Stephen Ministry Are you going through a crisis or rough times? A Stephen Minister may be able to help! Stephen Ministers are members of our parish who are trained to help during these times. They visit, give support, listen, and pray with you. Everything is confidential and free. If you would like to see a Stephen Minister, please contact Father Rick Lindsey† at 681-8333 or Mary Anne Gebler at 645-4111. Need an excuse to stay home? Here’s a great one. Get involved with your fellow parishioners in Friends With Wheels. All you need to do is commit one morning a month to answering the phone and arranging rides for less fortunate neighbors who have to meet medical appointments.
