All Saints Episcopal Church, Hilton Head Island, SC
All Saints provides a variety of alternatives for Christian education for adults, as described below. If you have questions or need more information about the adult education programs, please contact Mark Brinkmann†.
On Sundays other than special feast days during the fall, winter and spring of the year, there is an adult education program between morning services, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The schedule of planned offerings is published regularly.
The "First Wednesday" program is offered monthly except during the summer. The program begins at 5:15 p.m. with a worship service, followed by a family style meal at 5:45 p.m. Following the meal, adult Christian education classes meet for approximately one hour, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The schedule of planned offerings is published regularly.
A Small Group is a gathering of about 10 people who agree to share part of their faith journey together. They meet regularly for study, sharing, fellowship, and prayer. The members of each small group decide for themselves the topic, the format, and when, where, and how often to meet. These groups may meet any day of the week, any time of the day, at the church or in someone’s home. There might be a single leader, or the group may decide to share or rotate the leadership. A schedule of small group meetings is published regularly.
A Men's Bible study group meets every Tuesday, at 7:30 a.m., in the Rector's office.
A Women's Bible study group meets every Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m., in the Library.
There is also a Thursday morning Bible study, following the Thursday morning service, at 11:00 a.m.
And during Lent there is a Lenten Bible study every Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m. in Sun City, and every Thursday, at 5:00 p.m. at All Saints.
Education for Ministry, or EFM, is a distance learning theological education program for the laity of the church, developed by the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. It is a four-year study program, but those four years need not be contiguous.
EFM groups usually contain six to ten members, plus one or two mentors. They meet weekly for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Currently there are two EFM groups meeting at All Saints.
If you are interested in participating in the EFM program in Fall 2006, please contact Dave or Loni Saunders via e-mail or phone, at 686-3990, or Kerry Grant via e-mail or phone, at 715-0202.
The Act of Confirmation is one of the single most important decisions in Christian life. The philosophy at All Saints Church is that the decision of when to be confirmed belongs to the individual. Our clergy, youth ministers and Christian Education instructors offer children and adults support and the opportunity to learn about and build faith until they are ready to be confirmed.
